Over the following six years, the team sequenced the entire genetic code of S. epidermidis and uncovered three lineages, comparing the mutations to similar cases from across the globe. Indeed, the same mutations giving the bugs their antibiotic resistance showed up in every one of the 10 countries examined by the scientists, across the UK, Europe and America. Infections with these strains are potentially untreatable.”

Erez border crossing closes due to violent clashes
Israel closed on Wednesday the Erez border crossing in the northern Gaza Strip following violent riots which erupted on the Palestinian side of the checkpoint on Tuesday. According to the IDF Spokesperson Unit, hundreds of people participated in the riots, reportedly hurling rocks at the crossing which resulted in severe damage to the infrastructure. The IDF said they responded with tear gas and live fire.

Syria says IAF jets launched strikes in Hama
Fighter jets struck targets in Syria’s Hama countryside, Syrian state news agency SANA said on Tuesday, in an attack Syria swiftly attributed to Israel. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor said the explosions were heard in the area between Masyaf and Wadi al-Uyoun near Hama city. According to RT in Arabic, two people were killed in the attack and at least five were wounded.
