His formidable presence set within a backdrop of the winds of war, Time Magazine hailed the conservative British leader as the “man of the half century”—the man known as “the bulldog”—Winston Churchill. He is recognized for pushing back Hitler and leading his nation to victory over the Nazi’s during World War 2, saving his beloved Great Britain. He had many admirable qualities, and God used his strengths as Prime Minister to lead his nation through a dark and terrible time. He put the interests and wellbeing of his country first and foremost in everything he did. For him, it was like putting his family first.
Mr. Churchill was laden with critics, and the press often exposed his imperfections as they always loved to do. He had weaknesses as every human being does—and they gladly preyed upon him, second- guessing his military decisions and questioning his motivations. He was known and reported to be brash, harsh, matter of fact, biased, a white supremacist, English Imperialist, a heavy drinker and smoker, and was even called a racist on many occasions. Can you imagine? I am sure you can.

Bad reports circulated and were in print about his negative attitude regarding Israel and the Jewish people; but, being surrounded by so many critics, it’s always best to hear from the horse’s mouth.
In a 1920 article, he wrote: “Some people like Jews and some do not; but no thoughtful man can doubt the fact that they are beyond all question the most formidable and the most remarkable race which has ever appeared in the world.”

Critics sighted the fact that the displaced Jews were not dealt with properly by Churchill and restored to their homeland after the war. This was a lot to deal with as the war affected all of Europe in its devastation. I, too, wish more had been done in this matter. I think it’s important to see here, however, life was spared and Hitler did not annihilate the entire Jewish race as he originally planned. Churchill played a big role in the outcome of the war.
But, God was in control, as these are his people and Israel will be where His heart goes. He fulfilled his promises to them, when the nation was formed in a day—just like the scriptures prophesied. God holds the ultimate plan for his people, Israel.
Churchill did many things right. He saw the serious threat from Hitler long before others would even dare give Hitler a glance. As a matter of historical record, Britain was turning a blind-eye to Hitler, his motives, the concentration camps, and Germany’s military build-up. The Great War was still sour in the mouths of the current leaders, and they wanted nothing to rock the boat of placid contentment. Not Churchill. He addressed the threat head on. He was very outspoken and never backed down from his pro-military defense and resistance through strength of Hitler’s war machine.
He was an Elder Statesman and Admiral of the Navy before he served as Prime Minister during the war years. He saw the menace Hitler was to Great Britain and Europe, his aggressive plan for world takeover and the extermination of the Jews long before anyone else. His words rang true, as a state of war was declared by Great Britain and France when Germany invaded Poland in September of 1939.
He was a military influence to all the allied nations opposing Germany. The world and Israel should be very grateful for this man—I certainly am. He never quit, and I can see where many world leaders would have been tempted to throw in the towel—fighting the long, grueling, bloody world war. I read an opinion piece many years ago that said, if it wasn’t for Churchill, Hitler would have won the war. There is a lot of truth in that statement.
He was surrounded by critics and naysayers his entire career. He had a keen, smart, military mind. He was known for his common sense and had the interests and wellbeing of England and Great Britain always in His sights. He ate it for breakfast every morning, and lay down beside it every night. It was a consuming fire that drove his every decision. He would only compromise if it was in the best interest of his countrymen who were giving their all in the extremely testing war.

We have as our President, Donald J. Trump. He is so much like Winston Churchill, striking in his similarities. He never gives up either; and on some of his bad days, it is obvious to me that God is holding him together. He is brash, and his tweets send his critics into a meltdown almost daily. He says it like Mr. Churchill did—without much of a filter. Okay…no filter.
The liberals obstruct his every move and bad-mouth him and his family every chance they get. He has been blamed for everything that has gone awry in America; even climate change and hurricanes have been laid at his door. He has enemies-a-plenty, just like Mr. Churchill.
He has some good qualities though, and what appears to many to be a miraculous win of the presidential election. The Democrats are still in shock over his election and have been having a collective tantrum ever since.
He is a friend to hard-working Americans who appreciate living here and being citizens. The hard- working, God fearing, brave and serving people seem to have his complete admiration. He sees very clearly who the enemies of our nation are and calls them out regularly, within and without our borders.
He is also a friend to Israel, helping restore Jerusalem as the capital and home of Embassies worldwide. He has a healthy respect for Israel and their God-given land and capital.
He has done many things to repair the damage done by the former administration. It was left in shambles in my observation. Mr. Trump has love for his country and wants to see it restored and thriving again. He is exercising his power as President to restore:
—Honoring and worshipping God. Returning our freedoms and liberties for both the Christian and Jewish faith.
—Law and order restored. He has respect for those who serve in any capacity wearing a uniform. He is seeking to restore law and order, especially focusing on crime pouring over the borders. He has made this a top priority.
—Securing the border. Every country that has an open-door policy to everyone is foolish. Look at Germany, France and Sweden. Do you lock the door when you go to bed at night? People who love their families seek to protect them. He has promised a secure wall and deportation of illegal criminal aliens.
—Lower taxes! I am tired of paying for the insane things the government wants me to pay taxes for. He wants rewards for those who work hard.
—Supreme Court Justice Nominees. He picked a good one, and now for round two. He has some conservatives lined up for selection and the liberal left is having a colossal fit.
—He is Pro-Life. God is pro-life, too. If we ever repeal Roe vs. Wade— it could possibly be on his watch.
—He wants Obamacare repealed, and hopefully that will happen. I am one of many who do not pay the ridiculously high insurance premiums anymore. My husband and I opted for Christian medical sharing instead. Our monthly medical insurance premium was $1,825 in 2017. No lie.
—He protects and upholds the constitution. This is under constant assault as the liberal left wants to do away with most or all of it.
—He protects our nation from those nations who foster and seek to implant terrorism. The recent Supreme Court travel ban being upheld is a good example.
—He is anti-socialism and communism, just like Churchill.
But, just like Winston Churchill, I think he is divinely placed in this specific time to give, not only us, but Israel a reprieve and a shelter here in these end-times. I believe both men serve as life lines—thrown to the world in a time of great need.
Both men had a sense that their leadership was of divine appointment.
Mr. Churchill:
“Telegram from the Admiralty, sir. Winston is back.” Just that, “Winston is back.” It had an electric effect throughout the Fleet. Everyone said: “Now, we are going to go places.” In due course during the Norwegian campaign when things were going badly, Chamberlain was replaced as Prime Minister by Churchill. This took place on the 10th of May 1940. That evening he wrote in his diary: “As I went to bed about 3 a.m., I was conscious of a profound sense of relief. At last I had the authority to give directions over the whole scene. President Trump:
“Make America Great Again” was and is his slogan. He used that as a launching pad for his up and down campaign. He was somewhat refreshing, as he was not a politician and he was not motivated by anyone he owed favors to. He seemed genuinely concerned about the condition of our nation, and wanted to get us back on track. One of my personal favorites was something he stated in a Florida rally where he said, “We don’t worship government; we worship God.” I felt very hopeful on that note.
He also takes no salary and donates his quarterly earnings:
“In keeping with his campaign pledge, the president donates his salary on a quarterly basis to further important projects. Today, the president is proud to donate his 2018 first-quarter salary to the Department of Veterans Affairs to support their caregiver programs.” Source: politifact.org
Some disagree with me here, even Christians. I think they want the president to be perfect. I have read online many articles pointing out our President’s character flaws and sins, judging him as unfit to hold this office. Many believers are trying to undermine and discredit his presidency, claiming this as well. This is unfortunate and hurts us as a nation. Were they that concerned with his predecessor? Do they understand how bad off our nation would be if Hillary Clinton had won? And, she was fit for this office? Please….don’t forget what the other choice was.
As human beings go, God never seems to pick perfect ones to be world leaders. If God waits for anyone to be perfect before he hands them a position, then I guess we would all be disqualified at the get go. God allowed me to be a wife, mother, grandmother and corporate secretary of my family business; and I assure you, it was not because I was perfect.
The same thing must apply, as people are placed into important positions every day that are not perfected and readied for their tasks. They all have an entire staff that helps them get through the day, and even with those things in place it can be very rocky at times.
Being a President or Prime Minister of a country must be a load of responsibility that I cannot fully relate to, being an average citizen. But, I understand the important role that a person plays as head of an entire nation and the power that has been given to them—from God.
“And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding”
(Daniel 2:21).
God also sees things we just don’t. He sees way down deep into a person—into their heart and soul and even deeper—the spiritual life.
God may have seen something useful in both Winston Churchill and Donald Trump. God tends to use the usable. Both these men eagerly signed up for the job in spite of the tremendous heartache and headaches the job dishes out.
The main likeness I see in these two world leaders is this—they loved and do love their nations and the people in them. They thought about others and put their interests above themselves.
You may not like these two world leaders as guests at your dinner party. You may think them arrogant or narcissistic. You may pick apart the recent speech or the early morning tweet, but there are good things you can learn to appreciate.
They tell the evil person who comes knocking and wants to kill us and take our freedoms, “No way, these are my people, my family!”
And for that, both of these leaders have my admiration, and our President also has my prayers. However, President Trump can’t lead our country alone; he needs you and me. He is surrounded by his enemies who can hardly wait to demolish his presidency and take our freedoms captive.
Isn’t that exactly what Hitler was doing throughout Europe, demolishing governments and taking away freedom?
Please don’t think your prayers for our President and our nation won’t make a difference—it does.
Please don’t think your conservative vote doesn’t matter—it does, too.
