FAQ :: How can I feel more hopeful in this scary world?

The first place to begin is by reading and studying the Bible, God’s holy Word left for mankind. Everyone needs hope to go on living. When a person loses all hope even suicide can follow.

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life” (Proverbs 13:12).

The Word of God is filled with hope and promises. God has the solution to our problems and able to do far more than we can ask or imagine.

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20).

God is always faithful and He is the anchor for the soul. When we place our hope and faith in God He will carry us forward when everything around us in the natural world seems hopeless. All believers have a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:3). This hope in Christ produces endurance and perseverance (1 Thessalonians 1:3).

Because we are living in the last days, much of the world is on a downward spiral, as the Scriptures have forewarned. It is imperative to keep our eyes focused on Christ and His promises. All believers belong to the Lord and He promises to remove them in the Rapture before the seven-year Tribulation begins. Encouragement can be found in the Lord and the bright eternal future ahead for all those who belong to him.

Some people have a false hope in false religions, philosophy, riches, fame, technology and the belief that there is no God and no resurrection. Unfortunately, their hope is lost forever when they die and wake up in hell. For those who die in their sins there is no hope. All they can look forward to is judgment (Hebrews 9.27) and eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire (Matthew 25.41, 46; Revelation 20.11-15).

But in Christ we have eternal hope. Be sure you belong to the Savior and he will comfort you and carry you through all of the challenges this world has to offer.

Christians have a true hope in Christ. Here are some encouraging verses to look-up and study. (Romans 8.24; 1 Corinthians 13.13; Colossians 1.27; 1 Thessalonians 5.8; Titus 3.7; Hebrews 6.18-19; 1 Peter 1.3).

By making Jesus Christ your closest companion, the heartaches and disappoints in this world will not seem as overwhelming. We must place our total trust in the Lord and know that he is with us no matter what.

We have safety in the abiding in the Presence of God:

Psalm 91

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”
