The Palestinian Authority has applied in recent days for membership in a further eight international treaties… In a unilateral move that has reportedly left officials in Jerusalem and Washington seething…the Palestinians are seeking membership in treaties including the International Convention against Apartheid in Sports, under the auspices of the United Nations, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

IDF strikes target in Gaza Strip after 4 Palestinians cross border fence
The Israel Air Force struck a terror target in the southern Gaza Strip late Saturday night in response to several Palestinians infiltrating Israel to damage an engineering vehicle building Israel’s underground barrier with the Hamas-run enclave…IDF said in a statement…that the airstrike targeted a Hamas training camp in Rafah, and according to official Palestinian news agency WAFA, the IAF struck the target with three missiles, destroying it.

France gun attack: Trèbes holds memorial Mass for victims
A memorial Mass has been celebrated in the southern French town of Trèbes, in honour of four victims killed by an Islamist gunman on Friday. Police officer Lt-Col Arnaud Beltrame, who died saving the lives of hostages in a supermarket siege, will also be honoured in a separate national memorial in Paris in coming days. He has been hailed as a hero after trading places with a captive.

Venezuela hopes to tackle the world’s worst inflation by deleting zeros from its currency
Economic pledges may be par for the course in election campaigns, but in hyperinflationary Venezuela, the candidates’ dueling promises are going further, with the incumbent vowing to lop a few zeros off the currency, while his main challenger calls for the adoption of the U.S. dollar. President Nicolás Maduro late Thursday briefly outlined his monetary rescue plan…he would chop three zeros off the currency — arguably bringing the price for those eggs down to 250.

Hamas launches large-scale military exercise in Gaza
Hamas’s military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a large-scale military exercise in the Gaza Strip on Sunday morning. The exercise, which is set to end Monday morning, incorporates several replicas of the Israeli-made Merkava tanks to simulate IDF forces. Eye-witnesses in Gaza said Hamas launched at least one rocket into the sea as part of the exercise.
