European Lawmakers Call For EU to Designate All Hezbollah a Terror Organization
A total of 60 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have signed a letter that calls upon the European Union to blacklist the entire organization of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. The letter was sent on Thursday to EU Foreign Policy Chief, Federica Mogherini. “Hezbollah’s growing arsenal and entanglement in regional conflicts severely destabilizes certain countries and the wider Middle East,” said Danish MEP Anders Vistisen, one of the three initiators of the letter.

California Democratic Party doesn’t endorse Feinstein re-election bid
The California Democratic Party will not endorse Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s re-election bid this year, with delegates at the party’s annual convention giving the majority of votes to her top primary challenger, progressive State Sen. Kevin de Leon. De Leon got 54 percent of the vote, compared to 37 percent for the more moderate Feinstein, according to results released Sunday. But neither Democrat will receive the state party endorsement because they failed to reach the 60 percent threshold.

Defense Ministry opens pre-tender stage for new IDF base in central Israel
The Ministry of Defense has opened the pre-qualification stage for the Ofek Rahav project, in which four military bases in the center of the country will be consolidated into one new base near the city of Ramle. The Preliminary Qualification phase (PQ) for the Ofek Rahav project was opened by the defense minister on Sunday in cooperation with the IDF’s Technology and Logistics Division.

China proposes to let Xi Jinping extend presidency beyond 2023
China’s governing Communist Party has proposed removing a clause in the constitution which limits presidencies to two five-year terms. The move would allow the current President Xi Jinping to remain as leader after he is due to step down. There had been widespread speculation that Mr Xi would seek to extend his presidency beyond 2023.

Syria war: Air strikes resume hours after UN approves ceasefire
Air strikes by the Syrian government on a rebel-held enclave have continued despite a ceasefire resolution passed by the UN Security Council on Friday. Hundreds of people have been killed in a week of bombardment of the Eastern Ghouta enclave near the capital. The Security Council unanimously called for a 30-day truce “without delay”, but some areas are not covered.

The decision comes as part of the government’s moves to regulate the Gush Etzion neighborhood, part of which was slated for evacuation next month in accordance with an order by the High Court of Justice (HCJ).
