In Jordan, Tillerson notes progress in Mideast peace plan
The Trump administration’s plan to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is at an advanced stage, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Wednesday in Jordan as part of his weeklong regional visit. “It’ll be up to the president to decide when he feels it’s time and he’s ready to put that plan forward,” he said. “I will say it’s fairly well advanced.”

On Feb. 12th, the magnetic canopy of sunspot AR2699 exploded–for more than 6 hours. The slow-motion blast produced a C1-class solar flare and hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) almost directly toward Earth. The CME is expected to reach Earth on Feb. 15th. NOAA forecasters say there is a 60% chance of G1-class geomagnetic storms with isolated periods of stronger G2 storming. The effectiveness of the CME could be enhanced by a stream of solar wind that was already en route to Earth when the sunspot exploded.

Trump’s ‘Influential’ Faith Advisory Team Coming to Israel
The Ministry of Tourism has confirmed that a group of US President Donald Trump’s faith advisers will be in Israel February 17 through 21. The mission, being organized by the ministry’s US office “comprises some of the America’s foremost leaders of the Evangelical Christian community,” said L. Marc Zell, chairman of Republicans Overseas Israel and a vice president of Republicans Overseas, Inc.

Macron Vows to Reform Islam in France – “It is Time to Bring in a New Generation.”
Emmanuel Macron, in a declared effort to “fight fundamentalism” and “preserve national cohesion,” has promised to “lay the groundwork for the entire reorganization of Islam in France.” According to Macron, the plan, similar in ambition to Austria’s Islam Law, is aimed at seeking to “better integrate” Islam in France in order to “place it in a more peaceful relationship with the state.” A key priority is to reduce outside interference by restricting foreign funding for mosques, imams and Muslim organizations in France. The plan’s overall objective is to ensure that French law takes precedence over Islamic law for Muslims living in the country.

Turkey rejects Israel’s claim Ankara helps Hamas
Turkey has rejected Israel’s accusations that it helped Hamas gain in military strength, calling them “incompatible with reality,” after a Turkish citizen was arrested and deported. “We reject the allegations, apparently out of reality and seriousness, which were introduced on the basis of some statements obtained from our detained citizen under ambiguous circumstances,” Turkey’s Anadolu Agency quoted the Turkish Foreign Ministry as saying.

France’s Macron threatens Syria strikes if chemical weapon use proven
French President Emmanuel Macron has threatened to “strike” Syria if proof emerges that its government is using chemical weapons against civilians. “We will strike the place where these launches are made or where they are organised,” he told reporters. But Mr Macron said French intelligence had so far found no evidence that banned chemical weapons had been used.

UK blames Russia for ‘malicious’ NotPetya cyber-attack
The Russian military was directly behind a “malicious” cyber-attack on Ukraine last summer that spread across Europe, British ministers have said. The UK government has taken the unusual step of publicly accusing Russia of June’s NotPetya ransomware attack. Reckitt Benckiser – maker of Dettol, Durex and Strepsils – was among the UK firms whose sales were affected.

Quantum computers ‘one step closer’
Quantum computing has taken a step forward with the development of a programmable quantum processor made with silicon. The team used microwave energy to align two electron particles suspended in silicon, then used them to perform a set of test calculations. By using silicon, the scientists hope that quantum computers will be more easy to control and manufacture.

Mysterious Radioactive Substance Reportedly Detected in Alaska
A “highly unusual aerosol particle containing a very small amount of enriched uranium” was tracked at an altitude of seven kilometers above Alaska’s Aleutian Islands, according to a US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) study published by the Journal of Environmental Radioactivity.

A NUMBER of prehistoric drawings have sparked a local government to seek the help of NASA after the images appeared to depict extraterrestrial life. In the footage, a narrator explains how a number of art pieces have been revealed. Discovered in Charama, India, the images appear to show aliens and UFOs, similar to scenes of a sci-fi movie.
