Borders and Boundaries :: by Greg May

A number of years ago I was attending a church service when the visiting evangelist said, “God will punish the state of Florida for not protecting its border.”  Since then Florida has been ravaged by wildfires burning out of control, not to mention an onslaught of hurricanes – including Hurricane Andrew (which devastated Homestead) – the most destructive hurricane ever to hit the state.

God honors the concept of borders and boundaries; He holds us personally accountable for the maintenance of those ‘borders.’  Consider the following examples of biblical border responsibilities:  We are instructed to guard the boundaries of our minds and spirits (Romans 12:1), our bodies (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), the womb (Psalm 139:13), childhood (Matthew 18:6), marriage (Matthew 19:4-6), sexuality (1 Corinthians 6:18), and our allegiance of worship (John 4:24).

Failure to revere these borders brings consequences.

When a nation consistently violates these borders, the Lord brings a curse upon that nation, which manifests itself in the degradation of another important boundary – national border security.  The Lord is God of national and geographic borders.  God not only originated the concept but He declares blessings and curses concerning the matter.

“When the Most High gave nations as their inheritance, when He separated the human race, He set boundaries for the people according to the number of the children of God” (Deuteronomy 32:8).

The ‘separation of the human race’ occurred at the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11).  This was humankind’s first attempt to have a purely globalistic community – a one-world relationship seeking to “reach the gods.” However, God forbade it.  He divided the peoples into nations, each with distinct national borders.

God gave the Children of Israel the Promised Land, and He spelled out the border markers in the passages of Numbers 34:1-15 and Ezekiel 47:13-23.

Walter Cronkite was known as ‘The Most Trusted Man in America’ as he anchored the CBS Evening News for nearly 20 years.  In 1999, Cronkite spoke before the United Nations as he accepted the Norman Cousins Global Governance Award from the World Federalists Association. Cronkite told his audience that the first step toward achieving the goal of a one-world government was to strengthen the United Nations, saying:

“Pat Robertson has written in a book a few years ago that we should have a world government, but only when the Messiah arrives.  He wrote, literally, any attempt to achieve world order before that time must be the work of the devil.  Well, join me.  I’m glad to sit here at the right hand of Satan.”

As our world spirals out of control and our nation turns from God, globalists and world leaders believe they will accomplish their goal.  However, God is the same today as He was when He first set forth His laws and boundaries; and very soon the consequences will be meted out upon an unrepentant world.
