The magnitude of this quake was 2.9 with a depth of five and a half miles. A 2.3 magnitude earthquake was reported six miles north of New Madrid, MO at around 12:30pm. The depth was at eight miles.

Philippine police have killed 32 people in drug raids, thought to be the highest death toll in a single day in the country’s war on drugs. The raids took place over 24 hours on Tuesday in Bulacan province, north of the capital Manila. Police said that those killed were suspected drug offenders who were armed and resisted officers.

India and China troops clash along Himalayan border
A confrontation occurred between Indian and Chinese soldiers along a disputed border in the western Himalayas, Indian officials said on Tuesday. …Fleas in two northern Arizona counties have tested positive for the plague, the infamous disease that killed millions in the middle ages. Residents and tourists camping the areas are warned to avoid contact with dead animals and burrowing rodents, which may carry the fleas. Pets should not be allowed to roam free. The CDC says outbreaks of the plague occasionally happen in the southwest during cool summers that follow wet winters. While deadly centuries ago, the plague can be treated with antibiotics.
