The Minneapolis cop who shot and killed a 40-year-old woman after she called 9-1-1 to report a possible crime near her home was identified Monday as the precinct’s first Somali-American officer — Mohamed Noor. Noor has only been a police officer for two years and has already been sued for alleged unprofessional behavior. The May 2017 lawsuit also involved a female and accusations of brutality.

The signing of a memorandum on the sale of three submarines between Germany and Israel was postponed on Tuesday in the wake of a corruption probe regarding the acquisition of the submarines. According to a report in Haaretz, a National Security Council official confirmed that the signing of the memorandum on the sale, which was supposed to take place in Germany, has been postponed indefinitely.

Trump: Iran complying with nuclear deal but remains dangerous threat
President Donald Trump’s administration on Monday declared that Iran was complying with its nuclear agreement with world powers, but warned that Tehran was in default of the spirit of the accord and that Washington would look for ways to strengthen it. It was the second time Trump certified Iranian compliance with the agreement since he took office in January, despite criticizing it during the 2016 campaign as “the worst deal ever.”

Adriatic fires prompt evacuations in Montenegro and Croatia
Montenegro has appealed for international help to fight forest fires as neighbouring Croatia battles to stop flames reaching its second city, Split. Fires have raged along the Adriatic coast for days, prompting dozens of tourists and residents to flee the Lustica peninsula in Montenegro. A shopping centre in Split had to be evacuated as the flames grew nearer.

The US government says trade deficits and market access will top the agenda as it renegotiated trade terms with Mexico and Canada. US President Donald Trump has described the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) as a “disaster” and ordered fresh talks earlier this year. The objectives have been released in advance of the start of meetings with Canada and Mexico next month.
