Which Fork In The Road Will We Take? :: by Grant Phillips

For several years now we have been traveling down a narrow, pot-holed road with the ‘cream of the crop’ of savory candidates as our choice to elect for public office. We have now come to another fork in the road of this weed-grown, deserted pathway. Which way do we go? This time it may definitely be for ‘all the marbles.’ Do we follow the fork that has already proven to be dangerous and treacherous, or do we take the other that offers hope but no guarantee?

Have you ever had a meal where you ate way too much and could feel your “piggishness” coming up your throat and even your nose? That’s about the way I feel with the soured garbage coming from the Democratic camp these days. Let me add to that. Many Republican politicians are also contributing to that acid reflux feeling of disgust.

I was raised in a family that was, and still is, strongly Democrat for the most part. The county I was raised in was also a very strong Democratic county and still is. Many years ago I was finally able to see through the smoke screen of the Democrats and switched to Republican. I now live in a very strong Republican county of this Commonwealth.

Let me say first that I am totally disgusted with the Republicans that are not supporting their Republican candidate for President of the United States, and are instead supporting the Democratic ticket. They need to lower their head in shame and leave the Republican Party. However, why bother? The Republican Party has become nearly as corrupt as the Democratic Party. So why not just change the name to Democratic Party II?

I can remember well men like Hubert Humphrey who was a liberal Democrat at that time. He was Vice-President under Lyndon Johnson and Senator for many years. He also failed at his attempt to defeat Richard Nixon for President of the United States. My point is, as disgusting as his politics were at the time; they don’t look that bad today. Just goes to show how bad the political scene has gotten today.

This certainly doesn’t imply that politics has never been dirty or had a bad smell to it. It has, but today’s politicians are a class of their own, not that they have any class. They don’t.

The very thought of Hillary Clinton as President of the United States sends cold chills down the spine of many of us. Her former boss and current supporter, Obama, has been the biggest failure in the White House this country has ever seen, and Hillary Clinton will continue his rape of America with a vengeance.

I’m sure we have all heard of the eleven year old video of Donald Trump saying nasty things. His opponent has said things that would make him blush. Her tongue could lash the barnacles off a war ship. The problem with so many of us today, is that we criticize others for doing the same thing we do. (We just haven’t been caught or are not running for public office.) Pastor Robert Jeffress has stated, “These statements were lewd offensive, and indefensible – but they’re not enough to make me vote for Hillary Clinton.”

Trump’s biggest problem isn’t what he said eleven years ago, but the fact that he not only has to contend with the Democratic nominee, but most all the media, the Justice Department, the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, the FBI, the IRS and Lord knows who and what else.

Will Mr. Trump make a good President? I don’t know, but I do know what we are in for if his opponent wins the election … and it ‘ain’t’ pretty.

The most frightening thing to me about the one we have had to deal with for the last eight years and the one who may follow him on the same ticket, is the gullibility of those who actually can’t see the forest for the trees, the voting public. The voting body of this country is getting worse and worse in believing a lie. We also continue to vote the same career politicians back into office year after year to our own detriment.

The debates we have been witnessing on television are a joke. They are so one-sided it takes a fool not to see it. This country is literally going down the tubes because of the ignorance of the American voters.

Why are so many of the Republicans against their own candidate? It’s very simple. As Mike Huckabee states, “Bedwetting Republicans are afraid Trump will win and mess up their political ecosystem.” They’re scared to death that Mr. Trump will be elected and spoil all their backroom deals. They’ve all got a secret to hide in Washington, due to their cushy jobs at our expense. They receive special treatment that we taxpayers pay for and will never enjoy. Many are infested with fleas  because they’ve been sleeping with dogs. Therefore, they must protect themselves from any outside intrusion.

Those in Washington want two things; power and money. Each feeds the other. They are supposed to represent the people, but that flew out the window a long, long time ago. What can fix this mess? Well, Donald Trump can’t fix it, and Hillary Clinton will definitely make it worse than what it already is. Our only hope is God (always has been), but we’ve already told Him, “Stay out of my business.”

Every true, legitimate Christian needs to come before God as the prophets of old. When Israel sinned, men like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Josiah et al called upon God, confessing their own sins and the sins of the nation. We need to do likewise.

A few reasons we need to call upon God:

  • God’s Word, the Bible has been removed from everywhere but the home and the local church (thus far).
  • God has been removed and replaced with false gods.
  • Thousands of unborn babies are being murdered every year on the altar of convenience.
  • Homosexuality is being shoved down our throats.
  • Men are permitted in women’s restrooms and vice versa.
  • Our borders are wide open for the convenience of our enemies who want nothing better than to kill us all.
  • We are in debt to a tune that has no end.
  • We are at the mercy of other countries for our debts.
  • We have lost any respect we once had from other countries.
  • We are now Israel’s enemy and therefore the enemy of God.
  • We are supporting millions who are able to work but too lazy to do so.
  • Our roads, bridges, etc. are falling apart and we don’t have the money for repairs.
  • There is turmoil, hatred, attacks and murder of our police men and women.
  • Racial problems are out of control, thanks to the guy in the White House.
  • There is no respect, by some of our own citizenry, for our flag and the country it stands for.
  • The corruption in our government is out of control.
  • Any strides we have made in this country since 1776 have been ripped to shreds over the last eight years.

We are out of control as a people and as a nation because we are without the one true God in our lives, personally and governmentally. If we don’t come back to God very soon, it will be too late. It may already be too late.

Franklin Graham had this to say, “The crude comments made by Donald J. Trump more than 11 years ago cannot be defended. But the godless progressive agenda of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton likewise cannot be defended. I am not endorsing any candidates in this election. I have said it throughout this presidential campaign, and I will say it again – both candidates are flawed. The only hope for the United States is God. Our nation’s many sins have permeated our society, leading us to where we are today. But as Christians we can’t back down from our responsibility to remain engaged in the politics of our nation. On November 8th we will all have a choice to make. The two candidates have very different visions for the future of America. The most important issue of this election is the Supreme Court. That impacts everything. There’s no question, Trump and Clinton scandals might be news for the moment, but who they appoint to the Supreme Court will remake the fabric of our society for our children and our grandchildren, for generations to come.”

In 2004 I warned many I knew that “we don’t need this man, he is trouble.” In 2008 I issued the same warning through an article. However, both times Obama was elected as President and look where we are now. I now warn that we do not need Hillary Clinton. It will just be even worse than what we’ve had over the last eight years.

Will Donald Trump “make America great again?” No, but he is certainly better than the alternative. Only God can “make America great again,” and we will never be great until we return to God in true repentance.

I realize that the following verse is directed by God to Israel. However, it can still be our prayer if we truly turn back to God in true repentance.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV)

This election isn’t about bad language and egos. It is about corruption in the highest places and the subjugation of the American people to the whims of those who want to control every facet of our lives.

If Hillary Clinton is elected, the Supreme Court will be a strong majority of ultra-left liberals who will remove the last vestiges of freedom that remains of the American citizenry, and their decisions will reverberate for generations to come.

Consider the following:

Hillary Clinton Some of the Issues Donald Trump
Supports Abortion on Demand Against
Against Repeal Obamacare Supports
Supports Federal Tax Increase Against
Supports Same-Sex Marriage Against
Supports Common Core Against
Against School Vouchers Supports
Supports Amnesty for Illegal Aliens Against
Supports Iran Nuclear Deal Against
Against 1st Amendment (Religion) Supports
Against 2nd Amendment (Guns) Supports

We, the American people, had better wake up now. We are being politically raped and most don’t even know it. We are like the ostrich with its head in the sand, except our head is stuck somewhere else.

From my understanding about 30 million Christians stayed home and did not vote at the last election of 2012. If that is true, perhaps we would not be in the mess we’re in if they had gotten off their self-righteous behinds and voted.

Look folks, we are not electing a Sunday school teacher. We are not a pulpit committee searching for the perfect pastor (There aren’t any by the way). We are electing a political candidate to lead our country for the betterment of its citizenry.

  • We need someone who will not leave citizens behind in a war area to be butchered.
  • We need someone who will not give millions of our dollars to our enemies who want to kill us.
  • We need someone who will be a true friend to Israel (A true friend of Israel is a friend of God).
  • We need someone who will close our borders from illegal aliens while providing citizenship to those who come legally.
  • We need to reject George Soros’ et al one world government push and protect our own nationality.
  • We need someone who will fight for the rights of the unborn child.
  • We need someone who will protect the 2nd Amendment.

Hillary Clinton fails all these tests and more. She is a 30-year seasoned politician who is a master at doublespeak and outright lying. She knows how to blow smoke in sensitive areas to give a cheap thrill to the gullible.

Donald Trump’s ‘problem’ is that he speaks the language of the common people. He hasn’t learned how to present himself as something he is not (a phony), as his opponent has. In other words, he isn’t “politically correct.”

Frankly, I wish we had statesmen to draw from, but we don’t. Neither candidate is ideal, but we certainly don’t need someone who simply cannot tell the truth, has been a law-breaker for her entire political career, and is being supported by our enemies, foreign and domestic.

If the Democratic nominee wins this election, I would not be at all surprised to see laws and/or executive orders to remove guns from the citizenry. She states that we Christians need to rethink our Biblically held beliefs and change. Will other insanities be forced upon us even worse or equal to homosexuals legally marrying and men violating the privacy of women in restrooms? You can bet on it.

By the way, Robert De Niro can lash out at Donald Trump with language befitting his filthy mouth, but this is okay?

This whole Democratic scene is all about switch-and-bait. “Condemn those we condemn, but don’t condemn us for saying and doing much, much worse.” Have you ever cooked something in a pot and burned it really, really bad? I mean REALLY bad. The pot is destroyed. Well, in this instance, the kettle may be somewhat scorched, but the pot that calls the kettle black has no room to talk. It is only fit for the garbage.

Jesus put it this way:

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” (Matthew 7:3-5 NIV)

I have no idea what kind of President Donald Trump would make, but I do know what kind of President Hillary Clinton would make. There’s something else I also know. The Lord God definitely knows their heart, and He also knows ours.

For the last half century, and more and more with each passing year, we as a country have thumbed our nose at God and told Him to get out of our lives and leave us alone. Because of that, we have been getting just what we deserve.

“They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind.” (Hosea 8:7a NIV)

Nineveh was spared because they repented. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because not even ten righteous people could be found within them. What will it be with the United State of America, repentance and possibly being spared, or not enough righteous people to be found resulting in destruction?

Let us pray, as Jeremiah did for Israel, “Although our sins testify against us, do something, LORD, for the sake of your name. For we have often rebelled; we have sinned against you.” (Jeremiah 14:7 NIV)

Let us pray that God’s response is not, as it was to Jeremiah in an earlier passage, “So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen to you.” (Jeremiah 7:16 NIV)
