America’s Delusion :: by Grant Phillips

The United States Constitution and Bill of Rights is the supreme law of the land for the United States of America. However, most of the leadership in this country has decided we no longer need to follow the Constitution. They call it a ‘living’ document that needs to be amended to compliment the thinking of our new age.

The Constitution that our leadership is so eager to expunge was created by our forefathers from the belief in someone much greater than they, the God of the Bible. Could this be why the Bible was the first to go?

As of 2015 the total citizenry of this country was 321 million people. Once upon a time our Congress passed laws, the nine judges on the Supreme Court made sure the laws did not violate the Constitution, and the President obeyed them. Today, the President passes laws, five to nine judges on the Supreme Court ratifies them, even if they violate the Constitution, and Congress makes speeches and goes home. So, as few as six (6) people (five Supremes + one President) decide the fate of the remaining nearly 321 million (320,999,994). I realize I’m being facetious, but you’ll have to admit that I’m not far from the truth.

Why has this happened? Our leaders are supposed to be working for the people and representing the will of the people. It seems to me that our leaders are now telling us the way it’s going to be and we had better get used to it. In other words, learn to love it or you’re in trouble, but I ask again, why has this happened?

The Lord said in the following Scripture passage:

“For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 NIV)

Before you speak, yes, I do know this Scripture verse is speaking of those who during the Tribulation (Daniel’s 70th week) will follow Satan via his puppet, the antichrist. However, I am convinced that the ‘principle’ applies to us in the here and now. Follow closely the middle of verse ten through verse 12.

“…They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:10b-12 NIV)

Our country is falling apart. If you can’t see that, God help you. We are in deep, deep trouble. We have come to this point because we “refused to love the truth … but have delighted in wickedness.”

Our leadership is corrupt because our citizenry is corrupt. As a whole, we hate the truth and we love wickedness. In my opinion, God has washed His hands of us and allowed us to believe the lie that tickles our ears.

“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4 NIV)

God laid out rules for mankind to follow, and when there are no rules, you have nothing but chaos.

1.     Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2.     Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
3.     Thou shalt not take the Lord’s name in vain.
4.     Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
5.     Honor thy Father and thy Mother.
6.     Thou shalt not murder.
7.     Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8.     Thou shalt not steal.
9.     Thou shalt not bear false witness.
10.   Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house, wife or possessions.

The violation of these Commands is a result of rejecting God, and has resulted in:

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5 NIV)

If I didn’t know better, I would think this was written by the Apostle Paul yesterday instead of nearly 2,000 years ago.

We’ve stifled the voice of God from the school room to the church auditorium, and we wonder why our world is falling down around our ears. We listen to the voice of power-hungry politicians, sex-obsessed Hollywood, and drug-induced musicians, but refuse the Truth from God Almighty. We worship sports heroes, regardless of their lifestyle, but won’t give a holy God the time of day.

When mankind ignores God, there is nothing left but judgment, a judgment that man brings down upon himself. Consider those who drowned in the Great Flood. Consider Sodom and Gomorrah. Consider the coming Tribulation.

Oh, we can laugh it off, but God will not be mocked.

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” (Galatians 6:7-8 NIV)

God has given us His word to help us, to keep us out of trouble, to show us the right way, but if we ignore His word, we will suffer the consequences. Our forefathers knew this, but we have strayed far, far away from their original intentions for this country.

Because we have turned our backs from God, He has given us exactly what we want. Some already know the heavy price that will be paid, and that is coming. Others will know when it’s too late.

Read 2 Thessalonians 2:10b-12 once more and think about this. We may not be hearing the lie from the antichrist, but we are being inundated with lies every day from Satan. Why is our citizenry accepting these lies en masse so readily? Could it be that God is fed up with us? Could it be that He is allowing us to swallow the camel? (Matthew 23:24)

When I see the actions and reactions of our society over certain issues, I visualize the sane among us standing frozen with our mouth open, a quizzical look on our face, and totally speechless. Nothing makes sense. We have been forced to stand up for issues, that shouldn’t even be an issue. Matters such as:

  • Abortion (murdering babies)
  • Homosexuality,
  • Men in women’s restrooms and vice versa,
  • Open borders,
  • Non-citizens receiving voting privileges and monetary rewards,
  • Etc., etc., etc.

These things should never be part of any society, but yet they are being forced upon us by those who follow Satan.

So why has society strayed so far, and so rapidly, from the norm? Could it be due to the fact that we have become so corrupt that God has sent a powerful delusion in preparation for THE powerful delusion that is yet to come during the Tribulation?

One more point before I close. Let us look at Romans 11:19-21 and 25.

“You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” Quite right, they were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear; for if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you, either.” (Verses 19-21)

Could it be that the Gentiles are about to be removed as wild olive branches and the natural olive branches, the Israelites, about to be grafted back in to the olive tree? Why was Israel removed as a branch in the first place? It was hardening of their hearts in unbelief (See verse 20 and 25).

Then the Apostle Paul goes on to say in verse 25, “For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery—so that you will not be wise in your own estimation—that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in;”

Is the “fullness of the Gentiles” about to come in? If so, it means the Church age is about over. Is Israel about to be grafted back in? If so, it means that Daniel’s 70th week (the Tribulation) is very near, and keep this in mind. The Rapture will occur before Daniel’s 70th week begins.

Could the close of the Church age be even closer than we think? It’s definitely worth considering, because if our society is not delusional, then what else would you call it?

Our hearts are hardened and unbelief is rampant even in most so-called churches and religious gatherings. True and legitimate belief in the one Almighty God through Jesus Christ is nearly non-existent, at least on our shores.

I do know this; we are treading on dangerous grounds, not just in this country, but throughout the world. We think that since we are ‘getting by’ with our corrupt deeds, we can do anything we want and there is nothing God will do about it. If this is true, we are definitely delusional.
